Hannah's Story

A winding road to a calling

I'm originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin (Go Pack Go!). I attended Montana State University, where I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Sociology and a minor in Leadership. When I left Montana, I knew I wanted to help people, and I thought the legal system would be a great place to start—so I enrolled at Elon University School of Law in North Carolina. During my first and only year there, I realized law was not going to help people the way I wanted to.

Over the next few years, I lost people to suicide and watched our society struggle with addiction, loss, depression, PTSD, and anxiety. That is when I realized social work and therapy were my calling. I enrolled at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work and earned my Master’s degree in June 2019, with a concentration in Mental Health and certificates in Animal Assisted Social Work and School Social Work.

Along the way, I worked with College Track Aurora, the Denver Health school-based clinic at Manual High School, McAuliffe Middle School, East High School, the Mental Health Center of Denver, Colorado High School Charter, and Strive Prep Lake Middle School, where I served as Director of Mental Health in their Affective Needs Center.

I opened Lola & Me Therapy at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, on May 4th, 2020, because through those hardest of times, Lola and I knew we needed to do more to help our community. On June 1st, 2021, we shifted to Lola & Me Therapy full time, and in 2023 we grew into a group practice with multiple clinicians and therapy dogs to better serve you. We are excited to continue this journey.
