Grief & loss therapy in Denver

Grief is a natural response to loss, and it is something everyone experiences at some point in life. Whether it's the death of a loved one, the end of a significant relationship, or another life-changing event, grief can be overwhelming and hard to navigate alone. At Lola & Me Therapy, we provide compassionate support to help you process your emotions, honor what you've lost, and find a path forward — in an authentic, nonjudgmental, brave, and safe space, in person in Denver or online across Colorado.

What Is Grief?

Grief takes many forms

Grief encompasses a wide range of emotions — sadness, anger, confusion, guilt, and sometimes even relief. And it isn't only about mourning the death of a loved one. Grief can also arise from other significant losses and changes, including:

  • Divorce or the end of a relationship — mourning the life you once had and the future you envisioned
  • Loss of a job or career — especially when your identity or self-worth was closely tied to your work
  • Health changes — a serious illness or injury that changes the way you’re able to live your life
  • Loss of a pet — a heartbreak every bit as real as any other; pets hold a special place in our hearts
  • Moving or major life transitions — leaving behind a community, friendships, or a way of life that mattered to you

Whatever your loss looks like, your grief is real — and it deserves care.

Individual Therapy

How Therapy Can Help

You don't have to go through it alone

A safe space

Therapy offers a nonjudgmental environment where you can speak openly about your loss and express whatever you’re feeling — anger, sadness, guilt, or all of it at once.

Your grief is normal

Grief can feel overwhelming, and you may wonder whether what you’re experiencing is normal. We help you understand that your feelings are a natural response to loss — and that it’s okay to grieve in your own way, at your own pace.

Tools for hard days

Together we build practical coping strategies — mindfulness techniques, relaxation exercises, and ways to manage difficult emotions when they arrive.

Honoring their memory

As you begin to heal, we work with you to move forward while honoring your loved one or the significance of your loss — finding new meaning, reconnecting with others, or creating rituals of remembrance.

When to Seek Help

There is no right or wrong way to grieve

Grief is often described in stages — denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance — but the process is rarely linear, and no two people grieve the same way. Grief becomes worth extra support when it starts to affect your ability to function day to day. Signs it may be time to reach out include:

  • Persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
  • Withdrawing from friends, family, or activities you once enjoyed
  • Changes in sleep or appetite
  • Intense feelings of guilt or self-blame
  • Thoughts of self-harm or suicide

Our therapists — Hannah Snider and Tori Brown — each bring experience supporting clients through grief, loss, and life transitions, and we'll match you with the clinician who best fits your needs. If you are in crisis right now, call or text 988, or reach Colorado Crisis Services at 1-844-493-8255.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Who do you work with?

We work with diverse populations — children, teens, and adults — in individual, couples, group, and family counseling. Grief support is available in every format, so you can choose the setting that feels right for you.

Where will we meet for therapy? How does telehealth work?

We can meet in person at our Denver office, conveniently located in the Highlands at 2727 Bryant St, Suite 610. For telehealth, we use Telehealth by SimplePractice: we send an accessible link to your phone or email — all you need to do is get comfortable in a safe space, click the link, and join the video meeting.

Do you accept my insurance?

We do not bill insurance directly; however, we provide superbills for you to submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. Many of our clients go this route and it is easy to do. We also accept HSA payments, and Mentaya can handle out-of-network claim submissions on your behalf.

How do I set up a consultation?

Simply visit our booking page and complete the form to secure a convenient time for your free 15-minute consultation. We'll talk about what you're going through and help you find the right therapist match.
